I started in dogs over 12 years ago, I got hooked and now show in AKC events. My main love is of course, as you may have noticed OBEDIENCE!
I first started with my cocker spaniel cross Mikey CGC he was my first dog and our little pound dog rescue. He was about 3 years old when we got him and passed away at about 17 years of age on October 16, 2009. I did 4H classes with him and then decided that I wanted to compete in AKC. That is when I had to talk my parents into letting me get a purebred dog. It had to be small according to my parents. After lots of looking I found a great little puppy. This dog is now and forever known as Kairn's New Horizon's CGC, CDX, NA, NAJ (Dakota). This boy was my heart dog. In April of 2004 He passed on at the young age of 6 years. He was an amazing dog that will be remembered by everyone that met him. He past on due to a condition known as Cushings Disease. Check his page for further details.
Dakota didn't really care for the pretty dog stuff (conformation) neither did Mikey. Jane Guidinger (my adopted doggy mom) allowed me to show her Irish Setters in 4H as well as helping at AKC shows some times too. The first dog I showed was Cash. He was a big love, I was still learning a lot about showing at that point, no wins at state that year.

The next year I showed Milligan, we went to state and beat all the other kids competing of all ages. We took Top Showman for Southeastern Idaho! That same year Dakota and I competed at the top level of obedience. That had never been done in Southeastern Idaho before!

I decided that I wanted to get another dog and different breed and more of a challenge. After lots more looking once again, I decided on an English Setter. I also, was hooked on the setters in general. This led to my 5 year old, URO1 Silverline Paige Meadows CGC, RE, CD (2 RAE legs) "Paige" from Silverline kennels in Oregon, Kathy Gaut. She is the biggest sweetheart but she sure keeps me on my toes. Paige turned out to be a really fun dog to work although she has proved to be a bit of a challenge. Paige has now received RN (Rally Novice), RA (Rally Advanced), RE (Rally Excellent),URO1(United Rally Obedience 1) titles in Rally obedience. As well as her CD (Companion Dog) Novice obedience title, 2 legs for her RAE(Rally Advanced Excellent)and her CGC (Canine Good Citizen) Certificate.
I now have my boy I have been waiting for a long time to have. A beautiful tri color English Setter, Silverline BJ's Game of Chance "Keno". Life became really busy a while after I brought Keno home so he is catching up on some training now. He is a beautiful boy. He is co owned with his breeder Kathy Gaut and I. Time will tell what he can do, but keep your eye out for him! He is a sweety with a BIG heart.
I have assisted in training a service dog and done private lessons for many years now. I have also fostered dogs for rescue groups, which is very rewarding. I am currently fostering for ARK (Animal Rescue Kompany), which is VERY rewarding. I love to see and help these animals find good homes.
I am constantly wanting to learn more about dogs in general, be it training or otherwise. I enjoy learning from other trainers as there are soo many ways to train dogs, it's impossible to know it all. Each dog you train has the potential to teach you something new as well. I try to make it to many seminars and classes about these interesting animals to expand my knowledge. "A good dog trainer is always learning".
